Finding the right mask frame size

  • Use the frame-sizing template provided as a guide to help you choose the correct frame.
  • If the mask frame falls back over the patient’s head or sits too close to their ears, it is too large. Try a smaller frame.
  • If the mask frame falls forward over the patient’s head or sits too close to their eyes, it is too small. Try a larger frame.
  • A well-sized frame will sit centered on the patient’s head, and is neither too close to the eyes or ears.

How to Pick the Mask Cushion

  • Familiarize yourself with the cushion-sizing template provided and the cushion sizes available.
  • Hold the sizing template under the patient’s nose, and use it to determine the most suitable cushion size.
  • Ideally, the outer edge of the patient’s nose should sit on the grey band in the center of the colored margins.
  • Select the matching cushion and try it on your patient for comfort and fit.

How to Put Together your CPAP Mask

  • Ensure all the mask components and parts are together.
  • Insert each of the frame connectors into the cushion until they click into place.
  • Connect the elbow to the top of the frame until it clicks into place.
  • Hold the headgear so that the ResMed logo is upright and facing outwards.
  • Insert each of the upper headgear straps into the frame and fold the fastening tabs over to secure.
  • If the elbow ring detaches from the frame, slide it back into the opening with the widest part of the rim facing downwards.

How to Take Apart your CPAP Mask

  • Ensure the mask is not connected to any CPAP machine.
  • Unfasten the upper headgear straps and pull them out from the frame.
  • Squeeze the quick-release buttons on the elbow, and pull up to detach it from the frame.
  • Lift and unclip each of the frame connectors to detach the frame from the cushion.

How to Inspect your Full Face Mask

  • Regular inspection of the mask is essential to ensure it is working correctly. If any damage is found, the mask component should be replaced.
  • Examine the mask system and become familiar with its components.
  • Follow the user guide instructions to disassemble the mask.
  • Examine the headgear, frame, cushion and elbow separately for signs of wear, tear and damage.
